Kandle
Kandle is a Canadian alt-rock artist, producer, and creative director celebrated for her cinematic songwriting, emotionally raw performances, and uncompromising independent vision. Originally from Vancouver Island and now based in Montréal, she blends dark pop, new wave and alternative influences into a sound that feels both intimate and expansive. Her work has been critically acclaimed by Billboard, VICE, NYLON, FLARE, ELLE and more, establishing her as one of Canada’s most distinctive modern alternative voices.
A Juno Award nominee and Prism Prize winner, Kandle’s career has been marked by both critical recognition and artistic fearlessness. She has released multiple acclaimed projects and built a reputation for immersive live performances and cinematic world-building. It is no wonder she has collaborated with artists such as July Talk, Killing Joke, Eagles Of Death Metal, Cœur de Pirate, Sam Roberts, Jack White, Half Moon Run, and Apashe, bringing her unique voice into a wide spectrum of creative projects.
Her 2024 album Danger To Dream represented a bold new chapter in her artistic evolution, followed by the release of “Creation of Poison” released on Hidden Pony Records. Much of her work is developed in close collaboration with longtime creative and musical partner Jeffrey Mitchell (co-producer, multi-instrumentalist, director), with whom she has built a singular audiovisual language that blends music, film, and performance into a unified artistic vision.
Known for her brilliant songwriting confronting sexual abuse, mental illness and the raw truth of living with a severe chronic illness with unflinching honesty, her performances rare intense, intimate, and theatrical live shows, Kandle has toured extensively and performed at major festivals and industry showcases across Canada and internationally. Beyond music, she acts as her own creative director, developing concepts for music videos, stage design, visual assets, and experimental performance work.
She is currently expanding into Europe, the United States, and Japan, developing new releases, remixes, and collaborative projects while preparing immersive live and multimedia performances that continue to push the boundaries of independent alternative music.
